Opps! 30 Day challenge catch up

Yeah, I'm kind of failing at this 30 Day challenge. I lost my memory card, which you all know. It just vanished. I've looked everywhere for it and I have no idea where it could possibly be. I finally borrowed my brother's, but it's much smaller in capacity and I can only keep 4 pictures on my camera at a time. LAME. On top of that, about an hour or two ago, I found out that my monitor on my Macbook will not turn on, so I need to take it to Geek Squad or something because I don't have a Mac store near me. Until I get it fixed, I am using my dad's computer, which is a PC and I am having just a merry time trying to adjust back to this OS.

But, I will TRY to catch up on my posts. So let's get to it:

Post picture of your makeup collection.

I am going to also post these on my Flickr account so I can add annotation for what everything is.

Liebster Award! / Challenge Days 07 and 08

The lovely V from Carpe Diem has given me the Liebster award!! I just want to say to her thank you soo soo much again!!

The idea behind the Liebster award is to recognize bloggers with fewer than 300 followers and deserve some recognition. The bloggers I am nominating are :

  1. Laura, of Pink Swoon
  2. Whitney Laura
  3. Beth, of Beauty Marked
All three of these ladies are lovely, and I highly recommend you go check out their blogs!

So I was naughty yesterday, because I completely forgot to do my daily challenge post, so I will do both yesterday's and today's now. It actually works out well because the topics are related to one another.

What is your favorite eyeshadow color?

MAC Burmese Beauty!!! It's beautiful!! It came out with the Fabulous Felines collection last fall in an eyeshadow quad (named Burmese Beauty) and as soon as I saw the swatches for it I fell in love. It can be redddish-brown if used lightly or a beautiful bright teal when packed on the lid. It is a dupe for Club eyeshadow, which I do not own, but it is still a stunning shadow and I love wearing it.

What is your favorite daytime look?

I actually use my Burmese Beauty quad to make my favorite daytime look. I use the shadow Burmese Beauty all over the lid to really show off the duo-chrome. I use the gold shade Skintone 2 in the inner corner, Showstopper in the outer corner, and Prized on the brow bone. If I want to go from day to night, I deepen the outer corner with Bulletproof by Sugarpill and then layer more Burmese Beauty over top of it. When layered over the black, the teal really shines through.

I will take a photo of me wearing this look when I can find my memory card.

Challenge Day 06

Do you wear false lashes? If you do, strip or individual?

I typically don't wear false lashes. If I do, it's only on special occasions. When I wear them, I use strip lashes. The only lashes I have tried are the ELF natural lashes.

Challenge Day 05

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I had every intention of doing a FOTD, but I cannot find my memory card for my camera. It will turn up eventually. I feel kinda bad, since I haven't done one in a while. :( Laziness.

What is your favorite lipstick, lipgloss and lip liner?

I actually don't use lip liner. I should, but I don't own any. But my favorite lipstick is MAC Milan Mode. It's a lustre finish, and can be really sheer if you want it to be or a lovely fuchsia pink with multicolor shimmer. My favorite lipgloss is probably MAC Nymphette, which is a peachy pink with gold shimmer. It looks really great over pink or nude lipcolors.

I will post swatches of these when I find my memory card.

And I hope these challenge posts aren't too annoying.

Challenge Day 04

Do you like wearing foundation? If so, what's color and favorite?

I do like wearing foundation a lot. If I'm going to be wearing any makeup I feel more comfortable when I wear some kind of fuller coverage foundation. I am super super pale, with pink undertones, and I am usually the lightest shade in any foundation line. I swear by my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation (which should not be a surprise lol) and I am in the shade NW15. It's amazing. It covers so well without caking on my face or melting off throughout the day. Love it!

Sometimes when I want to wear makeup, but don't watch to put foundation on, I use Hard Candy Sheer Envy Tinted Moisturizer. It's actually kind of thicker in consistency, but still feels light while still offering surprisingly good coverage.

Challenge Day 03

What is your favorite brand?

I'm going to name my favorite high-end and drugstore brands.

High-end:
I've only been using their products for a short while but my favorite brand is MAC. I'm just so happy with every product I have purchased from them. Their products are great quality but they are still not the most expensive products you can find. I have found my holy grail face system with the Studio Sculpt and MSF Natural. They have a huge line of products so you are bound to find something that works for you. I just wish I had a MAC store near me.

Drugstore:
I think ELF is my favorite drugstore brand. I don't think they get as much love as they should, because they have definitely stepped up their game within the last few years. When I first started collecting makeup, I was in college, and couldn't afford to use higher end products. ELF offers a great range of products to try, at incredibly affordable prices with their $1 Essential line, $3 Studio line, and $5 Mineral lines. I was able to experiment with products and see what worked best for me, and didn't loose a lot of money if a $1 eyeliner didn't work out. I still use their brushes all the time, and, for the most part, have had great success with their products.

Challenge Day 02

How did you learn to put on makeup?

YOUTUBE!!!! I owe all of my knowledge on makeup to Youtube gurus. There are so so many of them that inspire me to experiment with makeup. I wont get into all of my favorite gurus yet, because I'm going to do a post on that later down the road, but I will leave you all with one of my favorite face tutorials.

This lady right here is amazing!!
Marlena's videos have taught me so much :)

Challenge Day 01/Mini Haul

When did you start putting on makeup?

I started using makeup when I was in high school, but I had no idea what I was doing. I would use a liquid foundation, 1 eyeshadow, an eyeliner and mascara and wonder why it wouldn't last past 2 hours. I didn't start learning how to use it until my freshman year of college.

Also, I have a mini mini haul. I picked up the Kiss Complete Salon Acrylic Kit from Walmart for about $16. It comes with everything you would need to achieve an acrylic manicure (tips, powder, liquid, etc.). I have to say that, for an novice try, the results are pretty awesome! It does take some patients but I'm really happy with my nail.

30 Day Makeup Challenge!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I haven't been feeling well, and when I'm sick I don't tend to wear makeup. But I do have a few things I want to talk about today:

First, I picked up an amazing brush from Walmart. They now have a "high-definition" line of brushes available and they all look fantastic, and super affordable. I picked up the Angled Blush Brush for $5.98. It works wonderfully and I would say that it is comparable to any high end brush you can find. (Keep in mind that I am not sure if these are natural or synthetic bristle brushes, so if that is something that concerns you, research the products before you buy them).

Secondly, I am starting a 30 day makeup challenge. This is something I saw on Tumblr that I thought would be a great way to keep myself posting regularly. It looks really fun, and I encourage everyone to try it out.

Here are the topics:
  1. When did you start putting on makeup?
  2. How did you learn to put on makeup?
  3. Favorite Brand.
  4. Do you like wearing foundation? If so, what's your color and favorite.

  9. Picture of your makeup collection.
  10. Favorite makeup brush.

  12. Favorite mascara.
  13. Where do you keep your makeup?
  14. Favorite Youtube guru(s).
  15. Do you wear blush?
  16. Do you copy any of the celebrity's makeup?
  17. Favorite makeup artist.
  18. What's your favorite night time look?
  19. Favorite concealer.
  20. Favorite eyeshadow primer.
  21. Where do you buy your makeup at?
  22. Favorite toner.
  23. Favorite eye shadow palette and blush palette.
  24. Which do you like: cream, matte, powder, sheer, or shimmer eye shadows?
  25. Favorite eyeliner.

  27. Favorite powder.
  28. Favorite makeup remover.
  29. Do you like wearing liquid liner? (if so, what's your favorite)

Monthly Favorites: February 2011

I've always wanted to do a post like this! If you have been following along, then some of these wont be a surprise at all, because I've been using most of them everyday.

I have found that the Studio Sculpt and MSF Natural is the best combo I have ever used. It just gives a flawless finish, without feeling like I have a lot of makeup on at all. I have used Pinch O' Peach nearly everyday since I got it. It's such a lovely color and really compliments my skin, because it's so light and I can't overdue it. I only just purchased the Maybelline Instant Rewind Concealer and Highlighter recently, but I really am in love with it. I like that the concealer gives great coverage, and the highlighter gives such a natural sheen that is not too glittery. I've used the ELF Setting Spray for a few months, but it really does make my makeup last a long time.

I have been using my MAC shadows a lot this month, especially Blanc Type, Satin Taupe, and Beauty Marked. Also, I use my Physicians Formula Matte Quad in Canyon Classics just about everyday since I bought it almost 2 years ago. It's great for helping my eye shadows blend together. I bought the Maybelline One by One Mascara last week, and it's really great for separating my lashes and adding volume. I like this better than my Covergirl Lashblast, because the One by One doesn't make them clump together as much. I've really liked using the Urban Decay Primer Potion in Greed sample I got in my Dangerous Palette, especially when I do shimmery looks. I've been using my L'Oreal Linear Intense Liquid Liner a lot in the last few weeks, because I finally got the hang of using it. The one I have has a brush tip applicator, rather than a felt tip, so it can be a little difficult to work with. I need to draw out where I'm going to put it with a black shadow first, but it's really dark, and lasts all day without flaking or smudging. My favorite lipstick for this month has been MAC Milan Mode, because it's a luster finish and I can make it as sheer or opaque as I want.

I don't have the box for it anymore, but one of my favorites has been the hair color I use, which is L'Oreal Feria in Starry Night. It's a beautiful dark cool toned black, and makes your hair look kind of blue in the sunlight. Love love LOVE that color.  Since I've been dying my hair black, I've been using the Garnier Frutis Color Shield Conditioner (this is a new bottle, and I also picked up the shampoo to go with it.) It's a nice thick formula and is very moisturizing. When I use it, I like to mix it with a bit of the Hi-Gloss Conditioner that came with my hair color, and let it sit while I'm washing my body, and rinse right before I get out of the shower. I've been wearing my hair curly a lot this month, and I've been using my Conair 1 1/4 Tourmaline Curling Iron to style it. I love the nice loose curls it gives. I've used my ELF Matte Finisher top coat on all my manicures since I bought it, and I love the look that it gives. I am wearing it now over ELF Metal Madness. Finally, I've been loving this Body Butter by Basin in the scent Therapy. It's a very clean and soothing scent and the body butter is super moisturizing. I use it when I get out of the shower.

I think that's everything! What have been your favorite product for this month?
