Challenge Finale / FOTD

OK! Last few questions:

Favorite makeup remover?

I pretty much just use whatever I can find that is cheaper. I have used the Neutrogena one, and I like it. I am using a grocery store brand remover now, and it's decent. I have also used Vaseline for makeup remover in a pinch. It's a little messy, but it's definitely a viable option.

Do you like wearing liquid liner? If so, what is your favorite?

I like the way liquid liner looks once you have it on, and the fact that it last a long time on the lids, I just find that the application is frustrating. I have L'Oreal Linear Intense (with the brush applicator, not the felt tip) and the brush tip is a pain in the butt. The formula is nice, but I am going to try the felt tip one when I run out.

Post a picture of yourself with and without wearing makeup?

HUGE Difference! LOL

Bitchin Kitchen Inspired FOTD / Challenge Day 27

I'm doing another inspired look today. My favorite cooking show is Bitchin Kitchen. The host, Nadia G, is absolutely insane. She has this crazy rocker personality, and I just love her attitude and her style, and her recipe's always sound amazing. I liked her show so much that I asked for her cookbook for Christmas, and in it she has a lot of fun and sometimes crazy makeup looks, so I want to duplicate a few of them. The first one I picked was from her Bag 'Em Tag 'Em Meals chapter, which is a neutral eye, but with a bright teal liner, so it adds a fun twist.

Face:
Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel
MAC Studio Sculpt in NW15
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer and Highlighter
MAC MSF Natural in Light
Nars Laguna Bronzer
Nars Orgasm Blush
MAC Too Chic Beauty Powder
ELF Makeup Setting Spray

MAC Painterly Paint Pot
MAC Satin Taupe on the lid
MAC Beauty Marked in the outer corner
MAC Blanc Type on the browbone
MAC Too Chic Beauty Powder in the inner corner
ELF Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil in Twinkle Teal (I totally recommend these liners! Super pigmented!!)
Bare Minerals Loose Shadow in Azure to set liner

Lip:
MAC Nymphette Lipglass

Favorite Powder?

MAC MSF in Light!! I use it everyday. Love love love it! I don't know how it's able to cover well without looking cakey, and still let my natural skin come through but it does, and I will repurchase over and over and over again.

FOTD 4.07.11 / Inspired Look / Challenge Day 26

I think I'm getting back onto a regular posting schedule now, I hope. I want to do my first inspired look today!! I'm going to try to do more of these so I can show some off some newer and more fun looks. This look was inspired by the makeup worn by Alison Krauss in her new music video Paper Airplanes! It's neutral, but really smokey and looks great on her.

Face:
Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel
MAC Studio Sculpt in NW15
Maybelline Instant Rewind Concealer and Highlighter
MAC MSF Natural in Light
Nars Laguna Bronzer

Eyes:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot
NYX 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Champagne and Caviar
Physicians Formula Matte Quad in Quartz Quartet
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean (cream liner)
Maybelline One by One Mascara
Lips:
Urban Decay Lip Junkie gloss in Wallflower

Do you wear makeup everyday?

Definitely not! I wear it when I work or if I'm going out, but if I'm just hanging out at home or if I don't feel well, I don't wear makeup.

Another Challenge catchup post

But not as bad this time... heh heh... ummm...

Where do you buy for makeup?

I buy all of my MAC makeup online because I don't have a MAC store near me. Most of my other high end makeup came from Sephora. I buy my drugstore makeup at either Walmart, Target or CVS. I bought my ELF makeup online, because my local Target only carries their products occasionally, and their selection is limited.

Favorite Toner?

I don't use toners very often. When I was using the Proactiv system I would use the toner that came with kit, and I liked it because it didn't contain any alcohol so it didn't sting or dry out my skin.

Favorite eye shadow palette and blush palette.

I don't have a favorite blush palette, but my favorite eyeshadow palette is the MAC Burmese Beauty Quad (surprise, surprise)

Which do you like: cream, matte, powder, sheer, or shimmer eyeshadows?

I prefer my eye shadows to be in a powder form, though sometimes cream shadows can be very useful. I tend to not like sheer shadows, and whether I prefer matte or shimmer really depends on my mood and what look I'm going for.

Favorite eyeliner?

I love to use my NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean as a cream liner since I melted it into a pot form. I set that with a black eyeshadow (usually Bulletproof by Sugarpill).

Challenge Day 19/20

What is your favorite concealer?

I've been using the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer and Highlighter duo and I've really been loving it. It gives really nice coverage but doesn't cake onto my skin like some of the concealers in a jar that I have been using. I had used the NYX jar concealers and they were alright but they felt too heavy on my skin. I like this one because it's nice and lightweight, and the highlighter is actually lighter than my skin tone so it adds brightness and dimension to my face without looking shimmery or unnatural.

What is your favorite eyeshadow primer?

I really like using the MAC Painterly Paint Pot as an eyeshadow primer. I understand that it's not intended to be a primer, but I use it for that purpose anyway. I have the Urban Decay Primer Potion sample in Greed, and while I do like it, I don't think it does a better job than the Paint Pot. I have oily eyelids, so no matter what primer I use, I have to first put some powder over my lids (I use my MSF for that) and I find that the oil doesn't break through as quickly. When I do that, I can make my eye makeup last for about 12 hours or so.

FOTD 3.30.11 / Challenge Day 18

What is your favorite night time look?

It's been far too long since I did a FOTD, and this one also covers my daily challenge post. Two birds, one post. This one is a little bit more dramatic, but you could make it work for daytime if you really wanted to. Still, this is one of my favorite nighttime looks.

Face:
Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel
MAC Studio Sculpt in NW15
Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer
MAC MSF Natural in Light
MAC Pinch O' Peach
Nars Laguna Bronzer
MAC Too Chic Beauty Powder

Eyes:
Urban Decay Primer Potion in Greed
NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean (as a base)
Sugarpill Bulletproof on the lid and lower lash line
Physicians Formula Matte Quad in Quartz Quartet, light grey shade in the crease
Urban Decay Virgin in inner corner
NYX 10 Color Palette in Champagne and Caviar, light champagne shade in inner crease
Rimmel Soft Kohl Pencil in Black on waterline
Maybelline One by One mascara

Lips:
MAC Creme d' Nude Lipstick
Aerie Superfruit Vitamin Lipgloss in Coy

Opps! 30 Day challenge catch up

Yeah, I'm kind of failing at this 30 Day challenge. I lost my memory card, which you all know. It just vanished. I've looked everywhere for it and I have no idea where it could possibly be. I finally borrowed my brother's, but it's much smaller in capacity and I can only keep 4 pictures on my camera at a time. LAME. On top of that, about an hour or two ago, I found out that my monitor on my Macbook will not turn on, so I need to take it to Geek Squad or something because I don't have a Mac store near me. Until I get it fixed, I am using my dad's computer, which is a PC and I am having just a merry time trying to adjust back to this OS.

But, I will TRY to catch up on my posts. So let's get to it:

Post picture of your makeup collection.

I am going to also post these on my Flickr account so I can add annotation for what everything is.

Liebster Award! / Challenge Days 07 and 08

The lovely V from Carpe Diem has given me the Liebster award!! I just want to say to her thank you soo soo much again!!

The idea behind the Liebster award is to recognize bloggers with fewer than 300 followers and deserve some recognition. The bloggers I am nominating are :

  1. Laura, of Pink Swoon
  2. Whitney Laura
  3. Beth, of Beauty Marked
All three of these ladies are lovely, and I highly recommend you go check out their blogs!

So I was naughty yesterday, because I completely forgot to do my daily challenge post, so I will do both yesterday's and today's now. It actually works out well because the topics are related to one another.

What is your favorite eyeshadow color?

MAC Burmese Beauty!!! It's beautiful!! It came out with the Fabulous Felines collection last fall in an eyeshadow quad (named Burmese Beauty) and as soon as I saw the swatches for it I fell in love. It can be redddish-brown if used lightly or a beautiful bright teal when packed on the lid. It is a dupe for Club eyeshadow, which I do not own, but it is still a stunning shadow and I love wearing it.

What is your favorite daytime look?

I actually use my Burmese Beauty quad to make my favorite daytime look. I use the shadow Burmese Beauty all over the lid to really show off the duo-chrome. I use the gold shade Skintone 2 in the inner corner, Showstopper in the outer corner, and Prized on the brow bone. If I want to go from day to night, I deepen the outer corner with Bulletproof by Sugarpill and then layer more Burmese Beauty over top of it. When layered over the black, the teal really shines through.

I will take a photo of me wearing this look when I can find my memory card.

Challenge Day 06

Do you wear false lashes? If you do, strip or individual?

I typically don't wear false lashes. If I do, it's only on special occasions. When I wear them, I use strip lashes. The only lashes I have tried are the ELF natural lashes.

Challenge Day 05

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I had every intention of doing a FOTD, but I cannot find my memory card for my camera. It will turn up eventually. I feel kinda bad, since I haven't done one in a while. :( Laziness.

What is your favorite lipstick, lipgloss and lip liner?

I actually don't use lip liner. I should, but I don't own any. But my favorite lipstick is MAC Milan Mode. It's a lustre finish, and can be really sheer if you want it to be or a lovely fuchsia pink with multicolor shimmer. My favorite lipgloss is probably MAC Nymphette, which is a peachy pink with gold shimmer. It looks really great over pink or nude lipcolors.

I will post swatches of these when I find my memory card.

And I hope these challenge posts aren't too annoying.

Challenge Day 04

Do you like wearing foundation? If so, what's color and favorite?

I do like wearing foundation a lot. If I'm going to be wearing any makeup I feel more comfortable when I wear some kind of fuller coverage foundation. I am super super pale, with pink undertones, and I am usually the lightest shade in any foundation line. I swear by my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation (which should not be a surprise lol) and I am in the shade NW15. It's amazing. It covers so well without caking on my face or melting off throughout the day. Love it!

Sometimes when I want to wear makeup, but don't watch to put foundation on, I use Hard Candy Sheer Envy Tinted Moisturizer. It's actually kind of thicker in consistency, but still feels light while still offering surprisingly good coverage.

Challenge Day 03

What is your favorite brand?

I'm going to name my favorite high-end and drugstore brands.

High-end:
I've only been using their products for a short while but my favorite brand is MAC. I'm just so happy with every product I have purchased from them. Their products are great quality but they are still not the most expensive products you can find. I have found my holy grail face system with the Studio Sculpt and MSF Natural. They have a huge line of products so you are bound to find something that works for you. I just wish I had a MAC store near me.

Drugstore:
I think ELF is my favorite drugstore brand. I don't think they get as much love as they should, because they have definitely stepped up their game within the last few years. When I first started collecting makeup, I was in college, and couldn't afford to use higher end products. ELF offers a great range of products to try, at incredibly affordable prices with their $1 Essential line, $3 Studio line, and $5 Mineral lines. I was able to experiment with products and see what worked best for me, and didn't loose a lot of money if a $1 eyeliner didn't work out. I still use their brushes all the time, and, for the most part, have had great success with their products.

Challenge Day 02

How did you learn to put on makeup?

YOUTUBE!!!! I owe all of my knowledge on makeup to Youtube gurus. There are so so many of them that inspire me to experiment with makeup. I wont get into all of my favorite gurus yet, because I'm going to do a post on that later down the road, but I will leave you all with one of my favorite face tutorials.

This lady right here is amazing!!
Marlena's videos have taught me so much :)

Challenge Day 01/Mini Haul

When did you start putting on makeup?

I started using makeup when I was in high school, but I had no idea what I was doing. I would use a liquid foundation, 1 eyeshadow, an eyeliner and mascara and wonder why it wouldn't last past 2 hours. I didn't start learning how to use it until my freshman year of college.

Also, I have a mini mini haul. I picked up the Kiss Complete Salon Acrylic Kit from Walmart for about $16. It comes with everything you would need to achieve an acrylic manicure (tips, powder, liquid, etc.). I have to say that, for an novice try, the results are pretty awesome! It does take some patients but I'm really happy with my nail.

30 Day Makeup Challenge!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I haven't been feeling well, and when I'm sick I don't tend to wear makeup. But I do have a few things I want to talk about today:

First, I picked up an amazing brush from Walmart. They now have a "high-definition" line of brushes available and they all look fantastic, and super affordable. I picked up the Angled Blush Brush for $5.98. It works wonderfully and I would say that it is comparable to any high end brush you can find. (Keep in mind that I am not sure if these are natural or synthetic bristle brushes, so if that is something that concerns you, research the products before you buy them).

Secondly, I am starting a 30 day makeup challenge. This is something I saw on Tumblr that I thought would be a great way to keep myself posting regularly. It looks really fun, and I encourage everyone to try it out.

Here are the topics:
  1. When did you start putting on makeup?
  2. How did you learn to put on makeup?
  3. Favorite Brand.
  4. Do you like wearing foundation? If so, what's your color and favorite.

  16. Do you copy any of the celebrity's makeup?
  17. Favorite makeup artist.
  18. What's your favorite night time look?

  27. Favorite powder.
